Art is more obvious, thanks to Fashion.

No one can ever deny the bond between Art and Fashion, It is a give and takes a relationship that turns around the same creative, self-expressive and imaginative sphere. The two of them have been affected by different cultures, different values in different times and places, to influence at the end of our wardrobe.

As the late nineteenth century arose varied movements and styles which are known by ‘Modern Art’, Modern Artists presented new fresh different ideas that reject the traditional and conservative values to take us to the world of Utopia. With different sizes of brushstrokes that depicted artists’ imagination to innovate and experiment with new shapes, lines, and colors. Different art movements shaped the modern Era, from Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Fauvism, Pop Art, Dadaism, Futurism, De Stijl and Abstract that influenced so many fashion designers to collaborate with artists to come out with artistic pieces like ‘The organza Dress’ in 1937 with painted lobster in which it was a collaboration between Salvador Daly and Elsa Schiaparelli. In 1965 Ives Saint Laurent presented the Mondrian collection that was a homage to the work of Serge Poliakoff and Kazimir Malevich but it was recognized famously by the six cocktails ‘De Stijl’ dresses that they were inspired by the paintings of Piet Mondrian.

Pop Art was highlighted for marketing goals by the creative Andy Warhol in ‘ The Souper Dress’.

Although the modern era was full of color, shapes, lines, abstraction, idealism, and life that affected so many designers to be inspired and to collaborate with artists to create artistic pieces, however, those inspired pieces were either worn by rich people or shown to a very small percentage of people. It was not for everyone. Wars and Humanity movements were basically the ones that shaped the Fashion industry at that time.

Despite that fashion, the fad has its own charm at the beginning of the twentieth but the artistic garments of the collaboration between designers and artists were conquered and enjoyed only by wealthy people on private events. Art on that day was shown only in exhibitions, museums, and special events. Fashion was an elitist industry.

With the new advanced technology that led to mass production, the spirit of art was seen on clothes and it is in the hands of everyone.
