The Significance of clothes in the evoke of the memory.

Rust-colored turtleneck, chocolate brown satin slip skirt, and the velvet pumps. Meghan Markle style behind our screens with the big headlines of her announcement with Prince Harry to ‘ Step back’ as senior members of the Royal Family and their plan to become financially independent. As it is their private life as human beings, I was more focused on her trendy brown look and thinking on the significance of clothes into our memory.
“Clothes are imbued with memories, intertwined with our histories and identities, interwoven into the ‘fabric of our lives’. They are narrative in material form, part of the stories we live, and as such powerful prompts for memory.”
This was part of the introduction of the article of the authors’ Christina Buse and Julia Twigg that analyses the role of clothes as material objects in storytelling and a tool to evoke emotions and narratives for people with dementia.
A dress in this manner is not just material objects, it is a storyteller and a tool to elicit memories.
